edwardian School master, pre-restored photograph
This sepia photo from the 1920's ( mouseover to see the result ) is a typical fading picture, having slowly become paler over the years also now showing water damage from the past creating a blue bloom on the surface. Sepia and Black and White photographs can also fade to black which is more difficult to recover.

1960'schildren hanging from a strung rope, pre-restored photograph
This typical 1960's colour photo ( mouse over to see the result)  has faded with a red cast, sometimes it could be blue or green. When the contrast and colour balance has been restored one discovers often that actual colours have chemically changed (i.e brown hair becomes blue or purple  green plants grey or brown) this has to be corrected by hand.
